I finally got off my lazy butt and decided to clean my MAF sensor.
When it’s clean is it black or is my MAF beyond saving? Approx. 137,000 kms and has never been cleaned.

Forgot to mention this was after spraying with MAF cleaner.

Nevermind, after some Internet sleuthing I found out that the little bead/sensor is black in color:

Any particular reason you decided to clean it? They can be pretty delicate and I typically try to avoid touching it if there isn't any reason to

Preventative maintenance? Sorry if that is a stupid reason. I was cleaning the throttle body so I thought I might as well (I used specific cleaners of course).

Several months ago I had a p2196 code for an O2 sensor, I checked for vacuum leaks, and while I was poking around, I cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC contact cleaner. I cleared the code and it hasn't come back...

How’s the car running and did you replace the O2 sensor?

I had to change my sensor at about 136,000 kms.

Car runs great, (40+ MPG on the highway) and I did not replace the O2 sensor
