I have a 2000 focus 2.0 spi auto.. I seem to have problems while giving gas feels like the car kinda cutsout. first i thought it was my ac kicking on and off.. but i turned it off one day to see and it did the samething.. if you floor the car it's like there's nothen there no power.. The car seems to idle good has slight cutout at idle. i'm getting about 23- 25mpg city which figured should be around 30mpg cause thats what the 2000 escort got with same motor..

23-25 city is good mpg for the spi. Have you had the timing belt replaced? What is your mileage? Have you cleaned your air filter recently? Check your compression, spis are known for dropping valve seats

has new timing belt.. it was kinda strange cause it wouldn't set at the proper timing marks it was either befor or after. so we set it befor.. car has 105k on it. at time of rebuild new fuel pump/filter, main bearings, piston rings, reman head.. thinking about puting a k&n filter in air box n maybe replace coil. most of everything else been replaced

check the cat converter it depends on mileage it could be plugged magna flow sells a nice one for the duratech end zetec engines i put one on my 2002 zx5 with 2.0 zetec and it helped with my loss of power[thankyou][thankyou][headbang]

Is the magnaflow cat just a stock replacment or is it a high flow cat?

behind the clutch pedal should be a rod or something that you can adjust by a nut under the dash..

how would a high flow cat affect mpg? or can i get aftermarket muffler to do the samething?

A clogged cat can be a reason for loss of power.. only way to really fix that is to replace it.. replacimg it with a high flow from magna flow would be your best bet.. some say it would help slightly in power gains over stock too..

I drive a 2000 SPI and a clogged cat gave me the exact symptoms that you describe. The high flow cat restored the power and gave me a few more horsepower as well.

I have just replaced wires and coil with now help.. little by little car idles rougher and kinda spits .. i think what ever it is going to show it self here soon..
