The earlier zetecs ('98 Mystique for example) ran a cast exhuast manifold = ideal for turbo application. Looks like they leave off in the same place the tubular ones (in the focus) do, although I haven't measured to be sure. After that you'd just need to have a simple adaptor fabricated to mate the manifold to whatever turbo you want to run.

This is the old school way of doing it, its how gude does it and its not the best, far from it.

Btw the Stock focus exhaust manifold is probably stronger than an aftermarket shorty.

Focaltech.... Not to stir anything up, but you're telling me that using a log-style (RS) manifold is better than a 4-into-1 (early cast zetec) style? If so, I'd appreciate the explanation as to why?

When did I say a log style manifold was better.

I said that using an adapter like the gude kit uses isn't as good an option as a true turbo manifold.

Ahh, OK. By "log-style" I was referring to the RS manifold.

Out of curiosity, what do you have against using an adaptor? Simplicity/appearance sake, function, spacer concerns?

The euro rs turbo manifold is not a log type, the picture is not of an rs turbo manifold.
I have one in my garage and it is a 4 to 1 cast peice, fitts a garrett T3.
If it can power many 250+ horsepower 8valve cvh escort rs turbos I'm sure it would work awsome on a zetec. I dont know if it will fit the svt though, I've only had my SVT for a month and its cold out so i havent looked around to much under there.
It does look like the engine in the 8valve focus or at least the head is the same as an old escort(cvh) rs turbo.
any one know if the exhaust ports/bolts match from the zetec to the base model focus 8 valve?
JUst my 2 cents

If you talk to Turbo Tom in SC he will tell you that the svt can only be ran on 100-110 fuel and in CA you know we only get 91. The only turbo kit that is outthere kinda sucks. I have done all the research on boost. Vortec is the only way to go......

Well not exactly true , I am in NCand the SVT kit can be run at 8psi with 93 fuel

The engine does not know if the 8psi is from a turbo or a supercharger so 8psi is still the limit and to run any more boost higher Oct fuel will still be needed even with a Vortech

Turbo is good I can say i love it i got a 94 civic CRVTEC turbo, You cant daily drive it in CA, Unless you have a greddy turbo kit with a carb number. I dont I got a drag 4 kit, and being from HDS when i had my Integra TypeR ( was also with honda/acura club and UPRD). I had alot of friends get there [email protected] towed (CHP is the worst) cuz of no carb # or sticker. I had a homie get towed by chp cuz of his intake he dident put the carb # sticker on his car they told him it is not smog leagle for the st. They gave hi a 30 day impound and make you get a smog 2 if they want to be a real dick. that is why i like the vortech system for the SVT. This is from Vortech:Compatible with factory OBD II engine management systems and is 50-state smog legal (CARB EO#D-213-20)
That way you can have boost and not get messed with in CA.

That is my opion on the thing Do at your own risk..
