Hey everyone.

I checked Helms Inc for the Focus Manuals the other day and found this Bulletin there. I checked with my Service Advisor in Carrollton, TX and he called me back yesterday. It is a valid bulletin. Because I was starting to have this very issue. He told me to bring it in as soon as possible.

It seems that the Duratec 2.0/2.3L with MTX-75 Tranny's are starting to show a sign of Long Cranking times and Hard Starting. Over the last few weeks, I noticed this happening with my ST.

If you have a Duratec 2.0/2.3L with MTX-75 tranny and you are experiencing difficulties with this, check with your local Ford house. They will take care of it for you.

Is there a recall, or is it a maintenece issue FORD Motor Co issue that they just decided to help with? My 03 does it occasionally too.

That is not good customer service on their part. If they cared about their customers, they would've researched it and assisted you with it. My SA at my dealer always takes care of his customers.

it seems many have had this problem along with the stutter at cruise in 5th gear but no one has fixed it. even of those that have taken in their cars still haven't gotten this problem solved. if i am wrong, some one please correct me. i wish ford would give a damn about their customers and would find the problem and fix it like a reputable company should. it sickens me to know they have this problem that they know of but won't fix it. i sure would love to have it fixed on my ride as well as all others with this problem.

^^^ ---> Easy there boy!

Intermitent issues like this can be a bear to track down. Consider the hard start problem with "...NO MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) AND NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC'S) PRESENT". It's been quite a while, but Ford HAS released a TSB for it!

If Ford didn't care, they wouldn't have released a fix for the hard start issue. I'm sure if they can nail down the problem they will release a TSB for your issue too.

Does suck waiting though.

[clap] That is something that has happened to me a few times in the past too. But, I haven't noticed it lately. In fact, since they updated my PCM, I haven't felt any hesitation or stutter at all. I'll keep an eye out for it though again. [thankyou]

Yes, I agree that this is one we should all look out for and get something going to have Ford fix it. This should be a STICKY or a POLL! Hey Forum Owner, could we do something for this? [idea]

I mean this is one thing that has happened to quite a few of the Duratec Owners, probably even yourself. That little hiccup/hesitation at speed while the cruise control is set. I am not sure if this pertains to both automatic and manual trannys, or just the manual. Everyone that has this problem, pipe up please. Maybe can get something going on this. [thumb]
