So I'm buying a car that apparently dropped a valve, or through a rod. Regardless I'm pretty sure the existing engine is toast.
So I'm looking at replacing it with either a complete motor or a rebuilt longblock. I've found a rebuilt longblock for $1300 to my door which I think is pretty good. The question I have is what else will I need to install the longblock?
From what I understand it should come with a rebuilt block, pistons, head, valves, crank, etc. Should I just be able to switch over the intake manifold, starter, alternator, etc no problem? Anything I might need other than new gaskets? Any special tools before I get started? Does anyone know of any online step by step guides?
Thanks for any help and guidance.
