I was going along the idea of replacing that factory head unit and putting one in that has an ipod interface....the dash kits for the 05-07 look and fit pretty good. you will be able to put your ipod in the pocket under the radio too

this is a very decent radio if you are just looking to replace your radio to get Hd and not looking to use it as a source unit for a sound system this is a great budget-friendly choice.

if you want to step up in features or are planning on upgrading your sound as well these are good choices.

lol we are going to end up having a pioneer kenwood show down [gunfire] lol i just put that piece in a car a few days ago. my only complaint about kenwood is they feel cheesy and cheap but the performance is def there.

Do any of ya'll have hd radio? If so how u like it?
it is WAY to easy to carry a massive library around in my pocket to even worry about any kind of radio. i have 3800 songs stored on my head unit and my sd card. the only time i listen to the radio is a few min in the morning to get traffic

At this point, I wouldn't worry about HD radio. There just aren't enough models that have the tuner built in yet. Sure, JVC makes some that have it and so do some other companies, but I just don't think you get what you pay for. You pay for the HD radio, and that's about it. Now, you could get one that is HD ready and buy the box, or just live without it.

Personally, I agree with the fact that it's too easy to carry a ridiculous amount of media with you (iPod) to even worry too much about the radio. Sure, I listen to FM all the time, but for me, HD isn't worth the extra money in parts or different HU.

As far as suggestions...I'm a Pioneer guy for the most part, because they've got great performance, good EQ system and good iPod control (on the right models) but I'll try to give you some variety. Links to all of these models are at the bottom of my post.

Check out the DEH-P500 (or P5000, the Premier gives you better internals and a three year warranty) or the DEH-P600 (or P6000). The second one has GREAT iPod integration. The first one has decent iPod control, but could use a higher resolution screen to make scrolling on the iPod easier. Both of those are a little bit above the price range you wanted to be at, but Pioneer's less expensive models wouldn't fit your needs. The iPod integration just isn't as polished.

Otherwise, there is the Alpine 9884 and 9886. They both do iPod control and have pretty much the same features. The 9886 just has a nicer display. Also, there is the iDA-X100, iDA-X200 and iDA-X300. These three are designed as strictly iPod units. There is no CD player at all, but their iPod control is almost unmatched, especially on the iDA-X100. In my opinion though, Alpine's EQ system is harder to use/tune and doesn't allow you to adjust as much as most of the Pioneers.

I don't know Kenwood's line at all, so I can't give any recommendations for them. JVC has the KD-PDR80, which is very attractive for the price. It has iPod integration through an external box that you'd need to buy.

Lastly, if you want to go the double DIN route, the Pioneer P4000DVD is a nice unit for the price. You really can't beat the iPod integration of a touch screen, but you do have to pay for it.

None of the models I listed have HD built in, but are HD ready. The Alpines and Pioneers all come with the cabling you need for iPod usage. Now, if you are planning on expanding your system down the road at all, I'd look for something with 4v preouts and a good EQ. The Alpine CDA-9886 and both Pioneer Premier units have the higher voltage preouts (most are 2v). If you are planning on keeping the system stock, or close to it, you could base your purchase off of looks and usage, as they will all sound pretty much the same with stock speakers (with the exception of heavy EQ tuning on models that have it).

Again, I know a lot of these are above the $200 you wanted to spend. However, iPod usage is almost pointless on most less expensive models than the ones I have listed. It works great if you leave it on random, but trying to hunt through 500 different artists on a display that shows one line of text at a time (like the Alpine CDA-9874 or Pioneer DEH-P4000).

Clicky Clicky....

Pioneer DEH-P5000 - $190

Pioneer DEH-P500 - $210

Pioneer DEH-P6000 - $250

Pioneer DEH-P600 - $270

Alpine CDA-9884 - $200

Alpine CDA-9886 - $300

Alpine iDA-X100 - $350

Alpine iDA-X200 - $200

Alpine iDA-X300 - $150

JVC KD-PDR80 - $190
