Lied, or were informed incorrectly?

I'm glad I don't work retail. Customers like you are the kind I'd leap over the counter and deck.

I think the saying is "Buyer Be Ware"

I don't remember when it became "Buyer be ignorant and throw a hissy fit"

The information about Focus suspension parts has been available on this site for years. Just because you chose to ignore it doesn't give you a free pass to be a jerk. Also, if you have a problem with the way your order was handled by a vendor, you need to take it up with the vendor and not on a public forum. That's super childish.

Indeed alot of folks purchasing the later model springs have been getting some form of FRPP damper kit with them that always includes the necessary hat and bearing. The mount itself is the same.

So yes, if you have an 08-11 and have purchased a set of 06-07 springs, you would need the hats (~$9 from Ford) and the bearings (5-10 ea from Ford or parts store).
So, it's either the Omni kit, m18000-zx3b shocks/struts, or the hats and bearings that K Dog mentioned? Can someone link me to these hats/bearings from the ford website so I know that I'm looking at the right ones when I search for them later?

Omni Kit is ONLY for 00-05 parts. If you're using any suspension parts newer than 05, you don't need the omni kit.

You drive an 08-11 car so if you buy 08-11 springs (eibach, ford racing, etc) then you should be able to buy any shock/strut that will fit 06-11 cars and reuse your stock 08-11 mounting hardware.

Just called up my buddy at the Ford dealer I frequent and he faxed me over the exploded 2006 front suspension view, complete with part numbers. I circled three things. Two in red, and one in blue. The middle red circle is the bushing you need to replace. The top red circle is the tophat you need to swap out. And the blue circle is the upper spring seat. I don't recall if you need that or not.

BUT PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THIS WITH SOMEONE ELSE. Call FRPP's Techline and ask them which ones they include with the shock/strut kit (m18000-zx3b) http://www.fordracingparts.com/Contacts/ContactFrpp.asp

All mounting hardware is included with the m18000-zx3b kit.

The only thing you have to reuse are the upper mounts for the rear shocks.

The item circled in blue is used for '00-'05, '06-'07 and NOT for '08-'11. (size changed for '06-'07) Commonly called a "top hat" it works with the bearing above it in the picture. '08-'11 the top hat & bearing became one piece, called a bushing in the Ford catalog & sharing the "call out number" (part#) with the bearing for the prev. years (also called a bushing in the catalog).

The top item circled in red is the strut mount.

Three piece assembly for the top mounting hdwe. was used for many years, top hat holds the spring with a bearing between that & the strut mount.

Current version for the Focus ('08 - current), combines the top hat & bearing into one part, so there are only two pieces of mounting hdwe. for the strut & spring.

One Member recently installed SVT kit on an '09 - needed the top hat & bearing for '00-'05 to fit. (the "Omni Kit" was needed to fit the earlier struts to the knuckle)

'06-'07 springs installed on '08-'11 are a similar story, '06-'07 hdwe. is needed.

SIMPLE VERSION - you need mounting hdwe. to match the year of the springs.

I just received my springs in the mail today... they're listed as 06-11 springs I believe on massives website. What would happen if I just tossed them on my 08 with no other parts than stock?

They won't fit.

You need the 06-07 mounting hardware that doesn't come with the springs.

Did you perhaps miss the last few posts in this thread? We told you they were needed.

Yes it WORKS on the 08-11 but you need new hardware. I'm sure they assume you're not going to put performance suspension parts on your crappy OEM suspension. Now that doesn't make sense.
