Hi,

I know about the seals problem on the DCT never see any real complains about the MTX beside weak differential!

Today while doing my oil change I've seen some red colored oil drips under my transaxle.

You can see the oil spots.

I guess the seals are shot.

Weird... first one?

Build date is September 2011 (2012 MY).

I've called my dealer about that for the warranty.

I wonder if they need to see a lot of drippings to make a claim valid?

thank you!

Did you check the drain plug and the add oil plug?
One may be loose enough to leak.
Both plugs are inset with hex drive face NOT bolt with a head sticking out.
The oil pattern really looks like a minor leak (like from a drain plug. If it was a seal the stains would be coming out near the driveshafts, or the engine tranny joint.
The plugs ARE hard to find. The drain is very low on a side, NOT on the bottom. The fill is high on another side near the top, also not on the top itself.

If I remember right, the hex are 8mm

Thanks Elizabeth I'll check that! :)
Could be also a bad seal (gasket maker type) to one between the bell housing and the gearbox.

Really? Do you see any oil on your garage floor or drive way?
Good luck!
It's nearly impossible to have leaking on the floor since the MK3 got an engine panel under it (unless tranny or oil pan got perforated).
Anyway, when I removed the panel it was wet with red oil. Also some drips on the bottom of the tranny.

My warranty is due in 2000 miles, I also have another thing to be replaced (window switch)... keep you informed about the claim :)

Pretty sure the 5years/60 000 miles covers that.

Yeah you are right but why wait until leaks more? :)

I don't want to touch the transmission fill or drain bolt to give them an excuse that's been tempered and void the claim.

Worse case scenario... if the transmission run dry ... gears will be hard to engage?

Pictures don't show seepage consistent with loosing more than a teaspoon full over the life of the car. With a couple quarts in the trans., running low isn't a worry from what I can see.

Could be much less than that, you'd be surprised what a mess a tiny amount of oil can look like once it spreads & gets dirty.

IIRC, there was a TSB with it that I looked into when I saw this. The TSB stated that it is an oil coating to preserve the metal and that the action required is to soak up the oil with a shop towel.

I'd still ask about it at a dealer, but if memory serves, this was documented by Ford.

1-Have you seen the pictures OP posted? Does not look like a coating.
2-The casing in Aluminium.

Not much info there, but it does say how to clean it lol
FORD: TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ON CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND BY USING METAL PARTS CLEANER, CONTAINING 60% ACETONE OR 60% HEPTANE, EFFECTIVELY, WILL CLEAN FLUID. MODEL 2011-2014 FIESTA, FOCUS.

The OP did not show his clutch assembly. He showed us the transmission housing.
