I picked up a K&N filter for my focus (2003 ZX3 PZEV) and was wondering, worth it? Also, where the heck is it? Took off the air box and it doesn't seem to be in there (atleast I can't see how it could be) is it mounted under to right?

the filter is in the airbox :) That is, the box located behind the front bumper. I dont see any way of getting to the air filter without prying it open, and even if you do that I have no idea what you will see. I think when they replace the air filter, the just replace the entire air filter assembly. Good luck [thumb]

Wow I just felt the filter inside (there is a little hole blocked by a rubber thing) and it seems like it would be really restrictive. No wonder we gain ~10 hp from an intake.

Hrmf, apparently the PZEV is first engine to have a 150K mile "no replacement" air filter system.

Wow :/

Here is the K&N web site http://knfilters.com/ and here is the link to there history http://knfilters.com/KNHistory.htm. Plain and simple, they have been doing filters since 1969 long before any of these other companys were even around. Point is the other air filters and air intakes on the market have been done long ago by K&N. The were the first in the game and were the first to do it all, these others are just copying off them. They are the best due to the fact that they are these other companys benchmark that they stive for.

To answer your question, yes k&n is worth it.
