Trying to remove the lenses from my 2012 headlights, can't get them off. Had them in the oven at 275 for about 10-15 minutes, and it didn't seem to melt the glue enough to remove the two pieces. The glue is black, slightly rubbery. I'm not convinced the housing plastic can take any more heat then that.

Any other options for separating the two? I do have a heat gun but I can't imagine that would work much better.

Heat gun, razor blade and patience.

Or

Try keeping the headlight in the oven a bit longer, but keep an eye on the housing so that it doesn't melt or sag.

I'm guessing that it will deform at 275F...once it has...no longer usable.

Welp, after trying a variety of heating methods to no avail, and ultimately breaking off part of the housing, I'm done. Too much of a PITA for me right now, I'll save this project for a later date. Glue really is a PITA to remove.
