Well, I got my 2004 SVTF about a month ago. This is my first car like this . . .actually my first car in 10 years. I have been driving 4X4 F-150's and Rangers. I soon realized that the tires on my SVT are not for snow or cold weather driving. After doing some searching I have found many different opinions, so I will lay out my situation and see what you would recommend.
I am considering buying the Kumho ECSTSA ASX tires, stock size on my stock wheels.
1. I do not auto X and have no plans to
2. I need something to help me get through the southern ohio winters
3. The only performance mods that I plan on doing is CAI and a tune from Tom
4. 75% of the time, I will probably leave it parked and drive our ZTW (in the winter)
5. I would rather not get a second set of snow tires/wheels

Opinions? Good choice/Bad choice?

All season tires are significantly better than summer tires since then tread compound will not harden up any where as much as the summer tires will. Winter tires are that much better because their compound is even softer than an all season tire (that's why they wear out quickly on warm dry roads). Its a trade off, the all season tires get most people thru the winter but don't expect miracles from them.
