You should be able to get it replaced for less than $50 as long as you don't go to the dealership and let them rape you on one.

90% of any exhaust system will rot and fall off and take out a mini van full of kids on there way to soccer practice in about 5-7 years depending on where you live

Quite normal for mufflers to go bad after a few years, particularly in cold climates where salt and other chemicals are used in the Winter.

But are you sure it's the muffler? A loose catalytic converter heat shield is also a common cause of exhaust system rattling.

I'd also check the heat shield over the mid muffler just at the gas tank. Mine rotted off last year and had to be re-secured

Straight pipe only where the muffler used to be (I'm guessing the front one is the resonator and the back one is the muffler?) Sounds pretty good, and a lot cheaper than a new muffler. :) No cat back or anything fancy, this car is just a daily driver.

mine's a daily driver too. nearly 170 hp daily driver with nitrous. just because its a daily driver doesn't mean you cant mess with it. besides, putting performance parts on the car isnt just to make the car faster. its also to make it more efficient lol. well thats always been my excuse to the little lady when i buy a new shiny for the fofo and not for her
