I have a London trip planedin 2 years or less. One thing I want to do is drive on the tracks that have "driver experience" type driving. They say though that a international manual drivers license. There is no identification of this nature in the U.S.

Do I need to do anything special?

I'm not sure about London.
That type of DL is for sale here in Cancun also.
In my experience I only have a local Cancun DL, I often visit the USA and I rent a car every time, I just show my local DL and my credit card. I never had a problem. I don't have a "international DL" that makes sense 'cause if you are from the States, the laws and rights from the USA apply to you anywhere.

I found some information online and it looks like AAA here can get one for $15. Buy it does not say anything about it being manual accredited.

I have an email in with the track (want to do Silverstone). We will see what they say.

International Drivers License is for PUBLIC roads and has nothing to do with race tracks.

Contact the track directly and ask for clarification. What vehicle do you plan on driving? A rental? Good luck with that. Most tracks are set up to notice rental cars.

Planing on doing a drivers experience at Silverstone, the Silverstone Challenge.

The Cars:
Audi R8 V10
Audi TTRS
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Nissan GT-R
Ferrari 360 F1™ Modena
Ford Fiesta ST Rally
Formula Silverstone Single-Seaters
Landrover Defender
Caterham 7
Mégane Renaultsport 250

http://www.silverstone.co.uk/experiences/driving-days/the-silverstone-challenge/

Per the FAQ it says:

Q. Can I use my international driving licence?
A. Yes, providing it is a full and current driving licence.

Q. Can I use my automatic driving licence?
A. Unfortunately not, all of our experiences utilise manual vehicles.

I will need a rental regardless when I get to England so will need one for that also. But was not sure about the Manual vs Automatic differentiation if there is one on the international. Since we don't have anything like that in the states was not sure how that applies/transfers.
