I believe it is there just to quiet down the intake under acceleration.
My intake wasnt too loud until I removed it.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? I swapped to an SVT airbox and snorkle over the weekend, and I didn't bother to put the resonator back on.....I also haven't noticed any increase in noise, although I suppose since everything else is stock, I might see less difference than some.

Without the resonator in place, air will not only enter the airbox via the snorkel (which will be slighly coolish air from near the front of the hood) but also from right beside the airbox...which will be warmer air.

and thusly i can prove you lose exactly .015whp!

just kidding, ya it shouldnt give much gains at all, it may even be better to plug it up. when i took mine off it made it quite louder, but only when you mash the gas. its not like an exhaust which makes it loud when the engine turns high, it is proportional to the amount of air going into the system when you hit the gas.
