im new to the whole clutch thing, but im gunna have to learn fast seeing as how its master cylinder busted...i talked to the mechanic and he started talking about how i shouldn't get a new clutch (ACT Street) because it could mess with the compression? is that true? what are some other problems with installing a new clutch kit? thanks.

Yes, the clutch has NOTHING to do with the compression... You may just need a new mast. cylinder or a slave cylinder and you clutch may be fine.

Maybe the mechanic is referring to the fluid compression in the hydraulic clutch system. If the spring pressure of the clutch is stiffer than the stock clutch, possibly the increased hydraulic compression necessary to compress it exceeded weakened seals in the slave cylinder. It's theoretical, but a possibility.
