So after installing my Pioneer 6x8's, I think there is much room for improvement regarding speakers in the Focus. I just checked out some nice Alpine SPR-17C 2-Way 6'5" speakers and was wondering what it would take to make it fit in the 6x8" hole. Obviously I'm going to have to make adapter plates, which shouldn't be too difficult, but can it be done?

I think the SQ increase of using the 6.5" speakers will be noticeable and worth the effort. My 6x8" speakers have an issue with the lows, they're being amplified by an Audiobahn A4601Q amp which puts out about 75 watts RMS per channel. These Pioneer 6x8" speakers are designed for 50 watts RMS max.

Awesome guys, thanks allot!

focusboy, what didn't you like about the 6.5" speakers? I mostly want to switch to 6.5" speakers because they can handle more power and I think that a round speaker will produce cleaner sound than an oval speaker. It also seems that 6.5" speakers can handle more power RMS than 6x8's.
