Hi there, hope some of you have any ideas ?
My focus '04 1.8 diesel failed to start.
Just clicked when turned key. Tried jump starting, nothing happened, no clicking. Gave starter motor a tap, nothing. Tried bump starting, nothing.
Towed home, removed starter motor. On inspection I found the terminals around the brushes were heavily corroded, causing a short to earth.cleaned all terminals, all four brushes were moving freely,. Bench tested starter motor, all ok. Refitted to the car. Immobiliser won't come off. Powered up exciter wire, starter turns engine, but not from key. Immobiliser flashes quickly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Now got a Focus sitting in the drive not starting.. Not happy.. :-(

With a flashing security light, the first question is whether you have another original key for the car to try. One odd possibility comes to mind, questioning if the key being used was a "clone" that uses a battery - those can go dead & be useless.
