On my 2009 Focus Se, I'm trying to remove the ignition coils to change the spark plugs but the screws on coil pack 1 & 2 just keep spinning in place and willl not rise up so that I can remove them. Does anyone have any tips or ideas to the problem or how I can remove them? Thanks

Use a screw driver or small pry bar and use psi prying up on the coil as you back out the screw , that should help

When you go back with it use a stud and nut this way you can get into the hole deeper and there should be a few threads that will hold the stud and just every so gently tighten the nuts

Worst case?

Grind the heads off the bolts for coil removal & then see if you can do anything with the inserts - or if replacing the valve cover will be the final solution to get it right.

I'll move this to General Tech Chat, a better place for the repair question.
