Well, I can tell you that a custom tune is going to give you the most bang for your buck. I don't know how cheap you mean but if you can, spring for the $350 and get a tune, you won't regret it.

FYI, Just bare in mind that the SVTF is not a 1/4 mile racer, our gearing is just too tall. Our cars are geared more toward autocross and roadracing.

EDIT: Also, you can't "chip" the SVTF, you would have to get a Predator or EXcal 2 and use it to reflash the ECU. They can be gotten from Wayne or Tom.

Do you still have the stock exhaust?
Reason I ask, is you could probably sell your Cat-Back exhaust to help pay for the tuning unit.
Unfortunately, about the only gains you get from an exhaust is sound.
Power gain is miniscule at best.

what he means by tuning is changing the programming inside the pcm(ecm). Chip is what they used to do but you can no longer chip vehicle because there is no port to do so, so you actually just reprogram the pcm.

Sorry but the guys at SVT put a lot of thought and effort into improving the performance of our cars, there just isn't a way to throw on a $15 part and get another second in the 1/4 mile. If it were cheap and easy, they would have done it.

That said, the reason a tune works wonders is that the SVT guys had to make some pretty serious concessions to the EPA to get our cars emission legal in all 50 states. The tune "undoes" some of those concessions resulting in better performance, improved drivability and better mileage.

As for the TB and a UDP, they won't do too much, the SVT already has a pretty good TB and you won't like what the UDP does to your AC AND the extra strain your alternator will have to take with the reduced RPMs.

Wayne's tune is much better than any of those bolt ons.

(ooh, all that just so I could be a Wayne fanboy!)
