hello! I have ford focus 2000, automatic transmission, ztec. and we had to change the motor of the car, but today we turn off the car, and when we turn on everything function but do not lower crystals nor move the handle of the changes. we had to use the small button in the side of the console of the car, ¿can any onee explain to us what happens?

How recently did you change the engine in the car?

It sounds to me like the shifter linkages are out of alignment, or they possibly popped off of the transmission. Does the shift lever move through all the gears, but it just doesn't actually select the gear, or can you not move the shift lever at all?
