It's not that difficult especially if he has the right charger, and a large enough battery pack in the house to prevent the generator in the Prius from overheating. Without a large battery pack in the house, I would not be surprised if there is a follow-up report of the guy's car going in for an electrical distribution system repair.

The C-max has a 1200 watt 115v outlet. That's enough for a fan motor, a few lights, and my TV which uses like 250 watts total. Now with a generator, you simply install a 240v recep outside to a sufficiently sized breaker in the panel. That remains turned off- until you need it. Then you cut off the main breaker, flip on the breaker, plug a male-male cord into the outlet outside and the generator, and start it up.

For those who live in the crappy places like I do- chains and covers will do. Or like a friend did, he made a cover of aluminum which was attached to the exhaust. It gets a bit hot- makes it hard to pick up without welding gloves.
