Maybe someone has already done this but...

I wanted to do this a while ago but never got around to it. I figured someone here might want to give it a shot. This guy gives a pretty organized "How To" on putting cathodes in footwells while giving you the following options: lights always on, always off, and only on when the car doors open. It's pretty sweet.

absolutely, or just any power source and install a switch

way too complicated, just tap in dome light wire.
Yeah, but electrically speaking, this method is safer. If your hooking up a lot of cathodes you could start blowing fuses if you tap straight into the dome light.
Plus this method alows more functionality. Off, on with door, and always on.

I ran speaker wire straight to my battery. then for safety i install a fuse.

NO MATTER WHAT make sure there is at least a fuse somewhere on your circuit. its stupid not to

...and the other thing about that is if your dome fades, it'll kill the cathodes: they can't take the voltage drop as well as LED's.

that poor AP1.... thats probably the first one ive seen with cathodes in it.... sad...
