excellent writeup, once again.

same as on the 2.3?

now, i looked at my maint. schedule, and it says not to do this until 100k!! It says 30k if its an automatic....? then at 60k again, and so on...

yeah, i am about to do a coolant flush, since over 30k now. gonna wait on tranny though. I need an alignment anways, so i will just have that done at the same time.

damn man, every 3rd oil change?? that baby musta been SPARKLING!! [grinking]

i hate when i am at a drive-up window, and i shift from 1st to neutral, and then back to 1st when pulling out, and i can hear the shifts. my last car you never heard that, and my 2 previous were autos. makes me nervous, hearing those gears!

viney, thats what i just put in, in my other thread! thats the stuff everyone said to get OUT of my car right away! so, i would think that yeah, gl-4 is too thick.

that is correct, u do not want to use the atx fluid...that was in the zetec tranny, even manuals. these use the synthetic mtx fluid. get it from the dealership, its weird stuff. best there is, but about 19 bucks a quart, and you NEED ALL 3. this is what it looks like.

dont worry about changing it past 30. ford says 75k i think. i did mine at 32k, and it was still clear/honey-ish. probably no point to it, but i did it b/c i got it used, and didnt know how it was treated b4 me. only fluid left to change is the brake, and i will do that when i do the brakes.

have u tried posting about it in the spi forum? im not familiar with the spi at all, sorry.

u shouldnt need to flush the tranny unless its an auto. even then, the tranny fluid is rated for either 75k or 100k, cant remember which.

thats not true at all. the 2005 mtx75 does not take intervals like that. i just looked at my maintenance manual and the mtx shouldnt be changed til 100k. maybe thatsf au.i uno.bt thmtx7 is 100k. i also have had this confirmed with mike at hilbish and my own dealership, just had to confirm it.

and that maintenance thing about the 100k isnt true. a lot of the stuff they list on those intervals cant even be done on my car, like a cabin filter or the pcv valve

yes i know that, but its not just a simple thing, like ud do at a tuneup or something. and no, it isnt easy. its a PITA. what i was referring to is the reg. maintenance stuff at say, 30k, and on this car , the pcv is not something that falls into that category. for example, when i brought up doing that 30k thing, the dealer said it would be 30 bucks for the pcv. ntil i brought the car in. suddenly it was 250 bucks.
