I was replacing my starter and to do that I had to remove the intake manifold and the component that sits between the IM and the head, which I believe is called the SP Controller. It has what appears to be the 4 split ports with 4 individual throttles connected to an electrical control box through a single control arm.

Does anyone know what the function of this controller is and is there any way to adjust it or modify it for better performance?

That is indeed the split-port manifold. The ports that have nothing in them are the ports that flow 100% of the time. When your engine reaches/surpasses 3000 RPM's (iirc), the second set of ports opens up to allow more airflow.

Alot of people have tried different modifications on it, but not many seem to have a positive effect.
