Hood prop grommet?

Does anyone happen to know the correct part number for the hood prop grommet for a 2008? The rattling is driving me crazy and I can't seem to find the right one for it.

Thanks!

Thanks Paul! I sure appreciate your help. I actually found that part number but everywhere I look says that part number is for 2000 to 2007. I did find one place (FordPartsGiant.com) that said that number fits the 2008 but it was the only place that I could find. Everywhere else said that number fits 2000 to 2007.

I see that. Both my 2002 and 2007 used that grommet but Ive not looked at a 2008 or newer. Tasca shows a plastic clip W700534-S300. Is there anything left of the existing retainer?

Paul
The retainer clip is still there and works but the grommet is long gone. They're not very expensive so I guess I'm going to buy the part number you told me. If it doesn't fit and I can't make it work at least they're cheap! LOL - Thanks for your reply, much appreciated!

If the prop rod setup on your 2008 is similar to my 2005 (pics above, click for larger) - which I think it is - then the W700510-S300 grommet for the pivot end is what you need. BTW I needed to buy one for my 2002 a few years ago and I think Ford makes you buy a pack (bag) of 2 but they are pretty inexpensive. You local dealer may have them in stock.

Good luck!

Yep, looks exactly like that! I'm going to buy it. Thanks for your time, you've convinced me!

My 2006 was missing this when we bought it a couple years ago. It did come in a 2 pack. I had a bit of trouble getting it to pop in.
I got mine from an eBay vendor a few years ago. W700510S300
Thanks! I'll take a look.

HELP parts in the parts stores has a grommet of some sort which also works fine and dead cheap. I cut through the part side to worm it in place but it stays put once installed and been there for years.

tough for me too. wondered if I had the wrong part -silicon spray lube gave me the nice pop when it seated properly.
If anyone is still looking for a grommet, when I ordered mine I didn't realize I was getting a 4 pack so I have 3 extras. PM me if you need one, they're genuine Ford OEM ones.

A tip for installing it is to soak it in warm water to soften it up a bit and use a little dish soap to help it slide in.
