I'm not sure I want to do that in the same washer as I use on dishes...

i think it will be good. i wouldnt use the drying system in it though. the smallest hint of hard water will put a white residue all over it.

Early 2000s had magnesium valve covers. Escorts and Contours had them as well.

They were magnesium, not aluminum??? Nice, now I want one. LOL

Never tried the dishwasher thing. I am curious to see how it comes out!

Gun parts?? Hmmmm, I hope it works!

Dishwasher powder is a very strong cleaner so I expect it will work rather well, but it might have more to do with the strength of the dishwashing powder than the mechanical cleaning action of the dishwasher, e.g., I have used dishwashing power in a few inches of water in a utility sink to clean and degrease stuff simply by letting it soak for a while and using an old dishwashing brush on it. But be forewarned, it is strong enough that if you do this and do not use dishwashing gloves on your hands, they will be rather pink and sore, or worse, when you are done due to the alkali reaction with your skin.

haha no but noone will ever find out, it did leave the white residue, i shoulda took it out sooner, but it did get rid of alot of that carp, i soaked it in some easy off for a little while, and it pretty much turned black b4 i threw it in there

heres after the dishwasher

and heres after a wire brush wheel on my drill

i did try the wheel and soak b4 putting it in the washer, but it just smeered the crap around, it was too thick and greasy after the soak, but it wouldnt come off w/o it

so w/ all three parts i say it looks ok for not having a sandblaster, still think im going to powdercoat it wrinkle red though
