Ok, so I've had my subs installed in my car for two years now. About a month ago a high pitch squeeling noise started coming from my subs. Does anyone know what would cause such a thing? My amp is a 6-7 year old kicker amp. Do amps do this when they wear out??? Any help will be appreciated.

Does it do it when the car is off? If not I'd check your grounds.

high pitch from the subs?

is it during music or all the time?

if only during music, go to the back and see if it's only one sub doing it
it may be a bad sub, guessing it's the voice coil making a mechanical noise

if that's not it, then be more specific about the sound and when it occurs
ie: during music or all the time, car on or off as said above, one sub or both, etc.

or is there something else in the back making the noise []

it's not the ground I've got a really good ground connected to a seat bolt. The high pitch squeal doesn't come on all the time. It is does it more and more often after about 10-15 minutes of listening to music.

Sounds like it's time for a new amplifier. If it was a speaker it would happen all the time. Sounds like something in the amplifiers power supply after it warms up.

Yeah, that's kind of the way I'm leaning too. I think I'm going to wait until it makes the sound again, and unplug one speaker at a time to try and make sure it's not a bad speaker before I buy a new amp.
