I have a 2000 Focus Sony edition I bought new, should turnover 500,000 miles next week. I drive about 100 miles a day, everything on this car works as it did the day I bought it. Still shines like new, no tears in upholstery, 5 speed (changed clutch at 450K when fixing drip from seal), original CV shafts, no engine work other than 4 timing belts. The Zetec engine has been bullet proof, running Castrol GTX changed at 5-8K since new. I have been the only driver, and do all my own maintenance except tire changes...any one else have these miles?

I hit the 500K mark on Friday...I have been the only driver since I bought it in 2000 new (wife maybe 200 miles), have done all my own maintenance except tire changes.Original paint and interior, no dents or accidents, Castrol GTX since new, changed at 5-8K. 5-speed, 1 clutch at 450K because I was in to change crank seal leak. Original CV shafts , everything on car functions perfectly except cruise control cable frayed. Quick math I have changed oil 100 times, 12 sets of tires, approximately 14,700 gal of gas @34 MPG, 185 cross country trips, 18.5times around the world, to the moon and back with one orbit and 8,500 hrs in the drivers seat..which is about 345 days. I drive about 90 miles round trip to work 5 days a week, and have no plans to retire this car!

Looks great! Where are you located?

I had a 2001 Escort ZX2 with the Zetec/5-speed that I bought new and had 275K when I sent it to Car Heaven (that was the name of the junkyard) in 2015. Everything worked, all original, but totally rotted out from 14 tough New England winters. I did my own maintenance - 40+ oil changes (Castrol GTX too), 7 brake jobs, 1 timing belt, 2 alternators, 2 exhaust, etc. Never touched the trans/clutch except for shifter bushings.
