Hello ladies and gents, I have just purchased a 2003 SVT 4d for a song it has 130000km ( that about 81000m ) as you can imagine its needs some work. I dont want to go FI just a good NA to be used as a daily driver. For starters its need a good tune up what do you recommend for ( I have a limited budget ) :

-spark plugs ( I have read about motorcraft copper core part # please )
-wires
-air filter ( k&n panel filter ) dont think I want CAI or short ram or do I
- gas filter (OEM or not )

I also need an exhaust ( trubendz 2.5 inch ? )

Rear engine mount?

I have also read about Tom tune ?

I have het to confirm if the timing belt has been done if it hasnt will do it.
( gates belt and OEM rebuilt water pump )

And a few "free" mods ( counter weight removal and clutch switch ?? ) any more...

Thx for your help Chris ( please forgive any spelling errors )

get stock motorcraft plugs from ford dealer... that's all you need
wires... just keep stock.
aem cai is a good choice
oem fuel filter is perfectly fine.

exhaust is all up to you. 2.5 inch is the minimum to go for you. you can actually get a 3 inch and see def gains on the svt.

Tom's tune is the bare essential for you to get for your car first off... you will DEF see an improvement in the way it feels and runs.

Rear engine mount is a great inexpensive mod to do and you will def appreciate it while shifting. Adding a short throw shifter will greatly enhance it.

I'd go ahead and replace the timing belt. The svt is an interference engine which means if you timing belt should break... your valves would hit the pistons and go bang!... just do it.

Remember... these cars were not built for straight line so don't get discouraged when it's "not as fast" as you thought... they are built for twisties... a GREAT mod would be a new suspension kit...That's also up to you as well.. Eibach pro system is a great kit all around for our cars and you'll love the way it feels. Hope i helped

nov173 covered it pretty well. The exhaust is mainly just going to gain a nice sound over stock unless you go 3". If you don't mind the raspy sound, an off road pipe or high flow cat would be better power mods. And for the timing belt, if you aren't sure do it anyways, its cheap insurance. Also, for the rear engine mount. You can order just the poly inserts from Prothane and they are like $15 compared to $90 for the whole mount. Looks like you did some research here, good luck and hit us up for any other questions.

I wouldn't do the shift counterweight removal unless you want you shifter to feel notchy and unrefined. The Motorcraft part # you are looking for for the plugs is SP-463, Advance Auto parts carries them for under $2 a plug. Factory wires are ok but I've heard that Taylor Thundervolts are hard to beat. I have the Ford Racing wires and they are good as well. Good luck with the SVT, I have 2 and love them both!
