So its about time i upgrade my headers and cat and i have one simple question? I looked around and i found a direct fit magnaflow cat for a great price.

Are these even comparable to the R/T cat as in performance gains? Ive searched google and every1 says oh yea its a good cat but havent none of them said anything about performance[scratch] .

I realise with the r/t i know what im gettin but to spend 350 bucks on a hfc that alot of people had problems with, i dont really feel like buyin it, id raither go turbo then.

Thanks for any help

i believe they are comparable. I've had my rt cat for two years without any probs. Actually if i could go back i'd have a friend just make me a orp. Save 300+ bucks

The hfc will rob a negligible amount of power from the car with a good header.

If I were in your shoes I would go with an SVT header and a modified R/T cat to bolt up to a Zetec flex. That will make the most power for you. A Short header and a cat in an L pipe will be more restrictive.

i like your idea dan but i dont think i could handle the svt header install... I like the fact that i can just unbolt the header and cat and just replace em with jba or FR header, either 1 i can get for good prices. And the direct fit cat i can get for 200. Max is 400 and thats about how much an svt header kit costs ( i think). I just wish i could get the gains that the long tube offers.

for your situation the svt header and rt cat is the best bet and if you want you can have a test pipe made as well for when you are racing and bolt the cat up for emissions day

I think the SVT header kit and modified hfc will run you about 600 total. And I'm pretty sure either way it will be a pain in the you know what each time you replace the header. But good luck to you.

^^ that i can agree with, im not lookin forward for swappin out headers weither i change my mind or not. Im also not a racer, i just want more giddy up and go, a sick ass sounding exhaust, and to clean up my engine bay. I will be wrappin the headers and sprayin silicone over it...

So it leaves me to this, any1 say itd be worth the money to buy a magnaflow cat or not. If not i might try the long tube route but thats for another day to think about.

svt header is the best to do.. It's not diff at all to remove the manifold.

takes even less if you don't want your stock parts anymore... hense cut that exhaust out. Takes 15 seconds lol. thats what i did with my first exhaust.

i have the r/t hi flo (which is rattling now...i did buy it with over 20k and have put 30k on it...so its to be expected) and i must say is did up the tq and hp in the mid range. my dyno is in the zetec dyno thread, take a look. For as minimal of mods as I have, some with more are only making 5-10hp more than me for spending a bunch more, including headers (whether SVT or long tube....)
