Hello all! First post on this Forum and looking for some insight! My wife's car started shifting erratically about two weeks ago, but just for one trip and then went away. Well, this morning on her way to work it came back again. On the way home now she says it is driving fine but we were able to get the code read (at local parts store) and he could not tell us what it was. I tried looking it up to no avail as well. Code came up as P090C. The car feels like it goes into neutral for a second before it bangs into the next gear. Also felt like reverse was slipping.

Any clue? Thanks in advance!

Oh, btw... Conveniently about 1k miles out of the 60k mile warranty [:(]

See the Dealer & hope for some assistance since you're close to the official mileage.

Here's a thread with contact info. for Ford reps. who help out folks here:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271380

I'll move this to a section for your model where all the issues from '12 to current are archived. There's quite a bit of info. on possible trans. problems there.

P090C - Clutch B Actuator Control Circuit Low

Basically will involve testing the circuits between the TCM and the clutch actuator. You can also swap the 2 actuators and see if the fault now moves to the other position which would indicate a bad actuator. (the code for clutch A actuator control circuit low is P0902).

Hey, did your dealer ever fix this for you? I'm having a similar issue with one of the actuators, and it's bringing up the P0902 code. Problem is that it goes away after a day and it's always working fine once i'm in for service.

I'm sorry but I have no useful information :( We traded it in and when we did it was acting up and the dealer stole the car from us..... Couldn't (wouldn't?) give us an estimate or diagnosis since we were there on a Saturday and the shop was not open. My wife was so worried about not having a vehicle that we just bit the bullet and got her a new one. She wanted to stick with the Focus because were getting really good gas mileage with it and she was very comfortable with the car. The car was on the used lot a week later and listed for TWICE what they gave us.....

Good luck getting yours fixed!

You're a brave man getting another Focus! Hope you have better luck with your new vehicle. I have 10k miles until my warranty is up and I hope it can be solved by then. The transmission in this car was rebuilt at 36k and it works really smooth when the actuators aren't malfunctioning. I really love the car, but if I continue having issues I may need to get rid of it, and I can't seeing myself getting another car with a dual clutch again. I wish Ford would take a lesson from the GM fiasco and just recall the transmission before it gets someone hurt.

This issue is now covered up until 150,000 miles under extended factory warranty. if your nearby dealership is terrible like mine is good luck getting it in with the check engine light for them to actually do anything about it.
