I have a 2000 focus zetec 5 speed, when i turn the key the engine starts up but i continue to hear the starter spinning. sometimes it disengages normal, most of the time it takes 5 to 10 seconds for the starter to disengaged sometimes longer. anybody have an idea?

Starter time.

I've done the clean & lube thing, but it doesn't last long. Not something you'd want to do again a week later.

If you can find a local Starter/Alternator shop you'll come out ahead in both $ & quality.

Lifetime warranties aren't that great when you're changing it regularly.

Recently repaired a 0 turn lawn mower that had this issue. Replaced solenoid and it stopped staying engaged.

Low battery about to die can do it too.

Either drag in starter retraction gear or solenoid weak spring or welding its' contact shut from volt issue. Maybe starting relay sticking on too.
