I gotta quick question about headlights. I have a 06 ZX5 Door Hatchback, Jet Black... I really like the look of the Mazda 3 headlights (clear case with the black painted inset) is there anything around like this for the focus, or would I have any options for a look similar to this?

Absolutely. It's a popular mod for the focus. You can take yours apart and paint the chrome housing black, or you can buy them on ebay. Just search for "focus headlights". Specify the years (2005-2007) and you will see 2 models on black housing headlights. One is the stock look, and the other is with projectors and halos.

here's the link for the How-to for painting them

Haha because I doubt i'd be able to do it properly, or without wrecking them... I've read the write up and everything, I'm just not really comfterable with it, atleast not doing it by myself.

AHHH ok well you can use a heatgun on them if you feel that is safer. It's really pretty easy though.

Good luck man hope it al turns out i have a black car and black headlights really help. Get you an eyebrow on them and your in business.

That shouldn't be much of a worry. Once the silicone is melted, they pry off very easily. If you take your time and be careful, you shouldn't break or mess anything up.
If you do decide to paint them, I recommend gloss black paint. I used flat black and I would prefer gloss because they look darker. Also, make sure to seal them up well.
I'd help you if we weren't thousands of miles away.
Anyways, wether you paint them or buy them, remember to post pics.

Yeah I love the look of the front end with the black headlights... especially with having a black car, it makes the front end look a lot smoother, especially if I get the chrome painted black. As much as I like the chrome, its out of place since thats really my only peice.

i wasnt comfortable doing mine either because i was on crutches after surgery on both knees... but it really isnt that bad, get someone to help you that will help to...
Alright thanks. Not so much worried about the Oven... more worried about snapping the casing prying them apart.
about them snapping, i had mine bent quite a bit while prying mine off thinking it would snap and it didnt....

i think you can do it just make sure you seal it back up tight and give it time to dry and cure...

good luck!!! you will love it!

Yeah I might take a serious look at painting the lights myself. Doesn't look to hard just breaking the seal is gonna be the tough part, and I haven't seen any accounts of actually breaking them, housings been a bit mangled but thats about it. How hard do you have to pull to get them apart? I've heard very hard, but at that point i'd be nervous of breaking them. And would you reccomned Ovening them (risking the spider cracking/chamelon effect) or just get a heat gun and break the seal in a couple places and pull them apart.
