Hey guys,

Im looking at buying a header and new exhaust. But i have no idea what is the best. Looked around a bit and noticed that the more expensive exhausts don't always mean better gains in anything.

So to start off what is the best header for a 2004 zx3 standard transmission. I have a 65mm TB and an AEM CAI (on the way). I don't live in a place where emission testing matters, so i need direction there.

Also, heard the SVT long tube header is the best header for zetec engines. Is this true? and if so why?? If not then what are the top say 5 headers for zetec engines?

Now after the headers comes the exhaust. what would be a good diameter for N/A and what if i plan on Turboing later on in the future (say in several years).

So if any of you can point me in the right direction that would be spectacular.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the SVT header is the best for the Zetec. If you plan on going turbo in the future, then a 2.5" or 3" exhaust kit would be best for me. But if you plan on basic bolt-ons, stay with 2.25", you'll be fine. Or you could be like me and get 2.5" anyway, even though I don't plan on getting turbo [:p]

alright sounds good, but what makes SVT header so much better then any other header?

So i'll stick with 2.5" exhaust any kits i should be looking at?

the svt header just flows better then anything else thats been developed, better flow=more power.
Good exhaust kits include borla, mbrp, trubendz, magnaflow (i like the borla one best)

I'm running the FocusSport Stealth Exhaust with Random Tech High Flow Cat Bosal Flex and JBA shorty headers...

love it...but it's restrictive because VA emissions laws...

If I were in your shoes however.... SVT headers....and 2.5" all the way back.

svt is noce but if money is an issue obx is good when deciding exhaust think of how lowd the cat delet will up the noise a lot so go to youtube and look up some vids. i am running a focus central raced header 2.5 in flex and a Tsudo exhaust and it is pretty deep

i guess everyone is saying that svt is the best, and for motorheads(hp chaser) it is, but im goign to test out the shorty headers. Ford Racing ones to be exacts.. and then combine it with a magnaflow hi-flow cat, plus a 2.5inch flex.... the exhaust is a borla and its already on.

pls keep up updates on what kind of set up ur going to put on. would love to know!

will, do. im currently thinking of getting the SVT header kit for Zetecs from CFM (http://focus.c-f-m.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=481) and thinking about a Boral exhaust system (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/d...rlaQQExhaust_SystemQQ20022004QQB25140018.html) or MBRP exhaust system 2.5". i heard the MBRP exhaust system on faster_than_u's focus and i found it a bit too loud for my liking. i would like something that has a nice growl to it but not as loud as MBRP. any suggestions? (links to parts would be appreciated).

2.5" Trubendz with the borla muffler. gets you the borla sound and it'll save you money from the link you posted. I think i bought mine for like $350ish shipped.

http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?pr...us_standard&productid=1512325&pagetype=detail

ok so its $360 shipped w/e still saves u some money

edit: forgot to mention this is the exhaust i have on my SVT and it sounds amazing, and trubendz also sells flex pipes as well

ya it may be cheaper but i also do live in canada where it will go up in price + i have to pay for it coming across the border :p. i should prolly do some exchange rate calculations and figure out what the cheapest way is.

the mbrp with a header and no cat will be loud unless you add another resinator...if you dont want a real loud exhaust i'd suggest the SVT Borla exhaust..it has an extra resinator so it will not be as loud

alright so ive been thinking about it and im looking to get SVT Header + 2.5" Borla Exhaust + 2.5" Flex Pipe + 2.5" ORP. That seem good and will that give me a real nice growl?

that will give it a rather aggesive growl to be sure. oh and jsut so the cops dont give you much trouble opt to get your borla wit hthe extra resonator (the cherry bomb looking thing in the long straght pipe.) it will be worth it and calm it down a little.

my plan (wich variess a lot) is centering arouns a tsuod catback. (like the mbrp but cheaper...and found on ebay) mated to a bosal 2.5 flexpipe. that will be mated to an random tech zetec to svt cat and a ceramic coated or wrapped svt header...
