Start on the outside on both sides and work towards the middle. Let the car run to operating temperature and retighten. Also, check them periodically.

i disagree. start from the inside and work your way out. the point is to keep the metal from warping and if the flange is distorted even a small bit working from the outside in can leave you with a leak in the center.

Either way, the point is to tighten them evenly so as to not warp the flange. Tightening from one side to the other will do this.

Technically it would be from the center out, but come on, its not going to make any difference at all. Its not torque sensitive. Just put it on and tighten evenly.
