2000 zx3 2.0 would a bad Hts cause the temp gauge to go to cold and rev the engine up to 3500 rpm? I replaced the sensor about a year ago thinking another problem was the Hts but that was the low speed cooling fan resistor any help? And thanks

First off, stop making up acronyms.
It's a Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor. To the correct acronym is CHTs.

And the answer to your question is maybe.
Can a bad sensor cause the gauge to act erratic or wrong? Yes.
Can it cause the car to idle wrong? Yes.

Is it the only thing that may be wrong? No.

Your best bet it to watch the CHT and use a non-contact type thermometer to verify. The conbination of the 2 should give light to what's going wrong.
