Hello to everyone....
After being a VERY hardcore Toyota driver for 25+ years (I was a Toyota dealership parts guy for nearly 30 years) my trusted Toyota died while I was working in Phoenix.
I made it back home to Boise for Thanksgiving, and needing a car in a hurry to get back to my job in AZ, I found a 2007 Mk1 Focus 2 door hatchback SE. 55K miles, A/C, cruise, sunroof, 5 speed, power windows and locks...a real low-mileage diamond which I purchased immediately.

I had always liked the design and engineering of the 1st gen Focus, and I knew that they were well supported in the aftermarket.
I was not disappointed. It performs very well. I enjoy the revvy 2.0 engine and the slick shifting transmission.
My first stop was at Steeda for a front strut tower brace (coz this was always the first upgrade on my Toyotas) and a rear sway bar.
The car handles like a train on rails now!!
I also bought an aftermarket grille on Flea-bay for about $25 and got rid of the factory stock chrome grille surround. I thought it looked out of place as the only chrome piece on the front end of the car.
Upgrades in the near future are set to include a Steeda cold air intake, upgrade the shocks and struts (recommendations welcomed) and 16" or 17" wheels and tires.

I'm looking forward to getting to know my way around the forum and getting all the info i can on what appears to be a decent performing, well handling, easily modified, dandy little car!!

Welcome to FF....Yea the Steeda sri is a great mod. I find it best to remove the bumper cover to get the whole oem filter off. While your ordering your Steeda sri, tac their tri-ax sts to the order. IDK if you want to lower it some, Massive Hardcore Racing Performance Parts - Massive Speed System - Ford Focus Specialists - Homepage has the ''omni kit'' basically sleeves to take up the clearance of the earlier '00-'05 suspension kits. You can't mix & match the earlier '00-'05 struts or springs w/ the '06+ ones. http://c-f-m.com.

Yes....I am surprised at the lack of performance shock/strut applications for the '06-'07 Focus. It is a bit disappointing.
I may just go with the Ford Racing Performance kit.to get it all done at once.
Thoughts??

If you can find one for the '06+ cars......If not, two choices= either get the Omni kit from Massive performance, which is a sleeve to take up the clearance of the smaller '00-'05 struts to use w/ the slightly bigger diameter, where the struts goes into spindle or replace your spindles w/ '05 only spindles & then that opens the door for any '00-'05 suspension kit whether its a c/o's or a fixed platform(springs/struts).....Just to add= the '00-'04 spindles use smaller tapered ball joints & also used the smaller 10'' rotors/calipers, where the svt spindles uses the larger 300mm rotors & calipers, but uses the smaller ball joints. For the '05 cars Ford went w/ a bigger ball joints & bigger 10.9'' rotors but used the smaller diameter struts...Where on the '06+ cars Ford went w/ a slightly bigger diameter struts & different springs. The '06+ cars have a pig tail spring & uses a strut for it wheres the earlier springs uses the same diameter(no pig tail) & uses a strut platform for a regular style spring. If I was doing it, I'd swap out the spindles for a pr of '05 spindles.

Ford Performance Parts lists one for 2006-2007 Focus for $267...it looks like all the stuff I would need (p/n is M-18000-ZX3B if you want to take a look)
If not this...then possibly the spindle swap from the local "Pick-n-Pull"....

That's cool....that is what I am looking for as I'm not looking to change the springs at this time. Maybe after wheel/tire upgrade. In your experience where does one find better pricing for the Ford Performance Parts.
Thanks again for your input.
