I'm wanted some feedback from you guys on where the heck to place my GPS. I wanted to put it somewhere so that it isn't too much of an eye sore. I was thinking the left side of the car maybe on the dash or something but then the wires are going to run from there all the way to my plug ins which looks kinda messy.

I have no idea how to run the cords through the dash and I am not looking to have it permanently installed in the middle console.

Where did you guys put your GPS? [dunno]

I always run mine in the middle of the dash, but I have a larger car. I don't like the distraction the GPS poses on the left - it's much more likely to block vision there.

Good point, I have mine on the window currently just above the middle of the dash. The display screen sits pretty high on the top of the dash in my car so I have the gps hanging just above it. It works, I'm still not satisfied though.

In other news I realized the new gps I purchased doesn't disconnect from the round holder thingy it sits in - so if I mount it anywhere it stays there. I don't like that idea as it becomes appealing to passer-by's who may have always wanted a gps of their own []

Sounds like you have a TomTom. Ditto for me. I have been scratching around for a good place to mount it that does not scream "free prize inside". I have an idea for a new type of mount, but I would have to make it from a commercial part. But basically, it amounts to a permanent block mounted in the dash on two Stereo type jacks (the kind you use for guitars) and two plugs. this would provide power and a quick dismount of the GPS. If the jack block was black, I don't think it would be substantially noticable. This is very much in the half baked realm at the moment though.
P.S. This would be located in the center of the dash, just above the vents (07). That way my travel mate would have access to input routes.

Haha yes I've got a TomTom... who was the dumb person who decided it shouldn't be detachable?! I bought a TomTom about three years ago and it came off the mount no problem. I've actually been considering returning it - simply because of this one thing. I'd like to keep it around and not have a broken window within a month, geez!

The idea you have cooking about the mount sounds really cool - if you go through with it be sure to post some pics! [thumb]

I am not sure what mount you currently have. I just bought mine, and the mount is detachable (ole suction cup thingy). Also came with an adhesive disk that you can glue to your dash (not to wild about that!). It sticks well to the windshield, but it leaves a greasy mark (well, I can see it anyway. I guess it is not really that bad).

From the sounds of it our gets up sound pretty similar. I've just got mine on the window as well but you're right the mark it leaves is kind of annoying. I'm not too sure about the disk I don't want it to leave a mark on the dash [confused]

I would not think the disk would leave a permanent spot, but you know, 'you 1st' (hehe). I looked at the vent mounts, I need my vents. However, do I really need my 4-way flasher? I mean, how long has it been since I used them?
