Hello everyone,

I've been looking for a replacement for my rather "m'eh" 2000 Civic EX that was stolen. Some people have suggested an SVT Focus as a practical but sporty car for a young fellow like me. That having been said I have a few things in mind.

1) I've driven a stick before and can slog my way through in my currently unpracticed state. Will the stock SVT setup be pretty easy to get used to? Does anyone here get stuck in traffic all the time?

2) Are there any common issues that have been turning up with them as they reach higher mileage? Are these things bullet-proof? Somewhere in the middle?

3) Long shot, but does anyone know any good performance shops in the Seattle area? I'd like to maybe build up a bit from the stock setup (which I understand is pretty sweet).

Thanks in advance everybody!

Just off the top of my head...

1) SVTs are AWESOME or, if you can find a Saleen...

2) There were TSBs released by Ford for SVT clutches, but by now most should have been fixed.

3) SVT engines are mild boost (8-12psi turbo) ready and really respond well to Superchargers.

4) You should be able to be really comfortable with the stick, even with 6 speeds, within days of purchase.

1. It's fairly easy to get used too. I bought mine with no real experience driving a manual and after a while i had gotten used to it, but at stop and go traffic...like any other manual trans..it is a pain in the ass.

2. It's mainly in the middle...some are just full of problems while others seem to be "bullet proof" kinda like a hit or miss type thing.

3. Lol, can't help you there :p

they are great, there are some 100K+ SVT's on here and they are running awesome, i think 1 is supercharged for the past like 80K miles. Replacing the clutch when it goes is probably the biggest problem. Thats the only problem ive had and my car has 82,ooo miles. the 6 speed is very easy to work, and its amazing. you'll love these cars, you cant find anything like them anymore.
