i drive a 2001 focus SE it has between 95,000 and 96,000 miles on it...
with the tank full i can get about 30 miles until the needle shows 7/8 of a tank.
i used to get about 100 miles city and highway on a quarter.
what could you recommend i do?

Thanks

I recomend you use you odometer and actual fuel used, not your gas gauge. You can't depend on your fuel sender to be accurate enough to estimate your mileage.

Alot of factors can effect your gas mileage, bad fuel filter, bad air filter, bad plugs, low tire pressure, etc... What I would do is fill up the car, don't top it off either, and reset your trip odometer. Run the car for X.XX number of miles, say 100 or so for an even number, or even run it untill you need gas again.

Then when you refill check to see how many gallons you put in, refill it all the way. Use that number and divide it into the number of miles on the trip odometer, that will give you your gas mileage.

Foci usually get around 300 or so miles, give or take, to a full tank. Some get a little more, some get a little less.

Hehe, I just read what Scott_SVT said, pretty much the same thing[:D]

You really need to check it yourself instead of relying on the fuel gauge.
