This is related to my car wont start thread, my car will crank but no start..

When I turn the key but not to start it, in my other cars the fuel pump makes a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr type sound kind of higher pitched motor sound then stops after a second or two to prime the fuel lines.

the focus that isn't starting when you turn the key you get a grr bomp noise no high pitched whine.. almost sounds like a pop noise

when you take the line off the fuel rail and do it, you do get gas out the line...

something wrong with the pump or is this noise normal? I don't have a pressure gauge to check if it's pressurized or not, only that it is dumping some fuel out

It should pump up to about 40 psi, removing the line would spray not just dribble most likely - usually makes a good mess when changing a filter if pressure isn't relieved by pulling fuse & running first for example.

Scan tool for pressure reading is the only easy way to check for the right pressure.
