Ok here is the problem, I'm driving to work and all of a sudden the fuel cap light comes on and my fuel gauge shoots to empty, could this be a fuel sending unit? the car still runs great i just don't know how much gas is left in the tank.Anyone else ever have this problem.[?|]

It's the fuel cap light not the low fuel inicator? The only place the fuel cap light and the fuel guage are connected are in the instrument cluster. If it's the low fuel light maybe the float came off the sender (doubtful). It sounds like a cluster problem. If it were an open circuit to the sender it would read full. When empty resistance is low.
