My real good friend is selling his system that he had in his Cadillac Fleetwood that he is now getting rid of. He offered my his Eclipse 5/3 channel amp http://www.eclipse-web.com/amp/pa5532.html for $150. I have rode in his car many times and he had the amp powering all four speakers and a pair of JL subs. His system sounds very nice and clean, not realy loud but nice and clean and would still bump. Would this be a good amp for my future system? I plan on running a set of ED components up front and a nice sealed 12" ED sub. What ohms should I run the speakers and sub at if I get this? Also, If I get this how did everyone run new wire to the doors? (ZX3) Or did you run speedwire, I just think running new wire would be best. Would this be a good amp for my setup or would a NinE.4 work better?

Thanks for all the help again.

I would take the eclipse over the nine.4.

If you liked the system in his lac, get the eclipse...if you didnt...then dont. ;)

ok, so I will probably be getting the Eclipse off of his hands today, and I am still wondering how everyone ran new wire to the doors. Im thinkin I just might use kickpanels instead because, 1. would be easier to wire 2. no cutting of pillars for tweeter. Suggestions?

Thanks

there is something to be said about ripping up the entire car trim & running new wiring; fun.

You shouldn't really need to run new wires, at least I don't think you will. All I did was run the entire mess of wires from the hatch where my amp is, back up to behind the deck, and then conneceted it to the factory wiring. I don't remember what the exact number is, but unless you are running more than a certain amount of power, new wiring isn't necessary (I'm sure someone more knowledgeble then me will chime in with what amount of watts that is anytime now...).

If it's a 5ch and you have the Alpine 9855, then buy separate drivers and make it an active system.

Dayton 7" in the doors $65/pr

Seas 1" in the kicks or wherever $58/pr

option: large format tweeters in kicks Seas $65/pr

Use the 9855 to set the crossover points at 2.1 or 2.5 KHz and 80Hz.
(Those small format Seas tweeters allow you to cross lower than most.)

This will allow you to set levels, time alignment, and crossover points to dial in the system and sound great.
