Ok I'm on my way to work I go to pull off the highway and I go to grab the shifter to pul it out of 5th and BAM!! its just flopping around. So i'm like ok I know whats wrong the cables popped of the tranny or something. I nurse it back home. Well I take a look at it and the plastic screw type tabs that hold the cable still have unscrewed and poped off. So I fix it after alot of messing with I get it where I can shift reasonably. Next day I go to the dealer order some new shift cables and this is where I first had a feeling that I was going to get the wrong part. I tell them what year it is and the guy said that it has the same part number through all the years. I thinking to my self thats wierd cause I know ford redesigned the shifter and other related parts through the years. Well I go there today and sure enough the cables have a different conector on the end that snaps onto the transmission. Well he looks and makes a few calls and tells me he ordered another one cause the one we got was opened and its possibly that it got switched. Has anyone had the same problem? Now I have to wait till tommorw to see if the next part is the same had the first. Not only that I asked him what if the part is the same what do I do then? He said that there is nothing I can do that means I would be stuck with broken cables. I should have just ordered the part from Focus-Salvage. aaaaahhhhh sometimes the focus is just a bothersome car to keep up with. Let me know what you guys think and if ya'll have some part numbers for me to compare with the ones at the dealer. Thanks. [
