We all know the 880 bulbs just don't cut it in the first gen fofo, I want a brighter bulb like a 50 or 55 watt either 886 or 9005 will it work? Will the lense wiring or switch melt?

Moved to Ford Focus (2000-2007) Non-performance Discussions. Ford Focus Technical Chat is for technical discussions relating to general maintenance, electrical issues, engine trouble, and recalls. Basically problems requiring repairs not modifications.

Good luck. I'd personally search for a higher power replacement for the same socket like a Xenon. It might not last as long, but you won't be using it that often either. As far as heat goes, it's hard to say. I know some people had problems with high power reverse lights, so I'd assume that higher power fog lights would have the same problem. You might be better off simply getting some high power driving lights or fog lights to put under the bumper, and then wire those to a switch.
