Thanks pcordes. You were a great help through all of this.

Here is another look a bit darker at night.

I need to adjust the angle of the beams though. Is it possible to reach around the splash guard to the fogs to adjust them?

On mine you could do it just laying under the car. It has a little knob to turn. Then again. Mine is a MK1...

Nope mine has that too. Wasn't sure I could get my arm around my splash guard.

No mine covers from wheel well to wheel well and bolts in. It sits in about a foot from the front bumper.

No, I took it off to install the fogs and harness. But with the limited time I have during the week nights to adjust them, I want to try and avoid it if I can.

I was able to reach them this morning and start turning the radial dial left and right. Although, I do not know what turning those knobs is exactly going to adjust? I didn't see much, if any, difference when turning. If I have the correct dial, it is a dial laying on the horizontal axis. You can turn it left or right. Unless there is another way of adjusting.

I drove in to work this morning with them on since it was pitch black out, just to see how well they worked. I'm very satisfied with how things came out. Thanks to everyone, again.

The instructions I posted throughout this thread should actually work for any 2000-2007 Focus that are not prewired for fogs, as I believe the 2000-2004 headlight switch has the same pin out as the 2005-2007 switch. The 00-04 and 05-07 headlight switches are slightly different in the front face of it, but electrically I believe they are the same.

For 2008-2011 vehicles it is a little different, mainly as you have to run 2 wires to the headlight switch, one for the switch and the other for the indicator light, whereas the 00-07 switch is wired internally for the indicator. I know that as I made up a similar wiring diagram years ago when a friend of mine with a 2008 Focus wanted to put "factory" fog lights into his car.

You provided great information throughout this thread, Peter. Maybe you should consider placing your wiring diagram for 00-07 models in the "HOW-TO" section? I'd hate for you to feel expected to have to revisit and resubmit the diagrams for others here. I know that some, maybe most, members here wouldn't go through all 12 pages here to get the answers they need. I'd post some pics in the HOW-TO section along with your wiring diagram, but you deserve all of the credit and any rep points that others would give to out.

Below are pics of the 2006 Focus fog light wiring diagram and the head light connector showing all of the wires. The wires you need to be concerned about are: pin 3 large green/black fog light power out, pin 7 large green/red (marked red in diagram) fog light power, pin 10 black fog light indicator ground.
Check to see if you have wires in all 3 positions otherwise you will have to get a headlight switch wiring connector end from a parts yard and insert the proper wire(s) into your current connector. If you have wires in all 3 positions you can safely cut the wire that comes from pin 3 as you will be making your own harness. If you are missing either pin 7 or pin 10 you will have to add wires for both of those, pin 7 to a hot power source (stock it goes to pin 87A on the high beam relay under the hood) and pin 10 goes to ground.

As you can see the power goes into the headlight-fog light switch at pin 7 which is labeled as red (but is actually Green/Red in my car). Make sure that you have power at pin 7 at all times except when the highbeams are on

So what you will want to do because it does not seem like your car has the rest of the fog light wiring and you will have to make your own, is wire from pin 3 to the coil of a relay (relay pin 85) and wire the other side of the relay coil to ground (relay pin 86), then from the battery run a wire to pin 30 on a relay then run pin 87 to one side of the fog light connectors and the other side to a ground point near each fog light, and pin 87a of the relay leave disconnected. For the wire that goes from relay pin 87 to the fog lights I would actually run 2 wires from it, one for each fog light (so may need to use a 1/4" connector for a larger wire so that both wires can fit into it). For extra protection, you can put an inline fuse holder between the battery and pin 30 on the relay.

On getting the fog lights to stay on if the highbeams are on or not, that would require running an always on power signal to pin 7 on the headlight switch, and if you already have one running there that is on except when the high beams are on just splice in your own wire (and properly insulate the cut wire end that comes from the harness so it doesn't short on anything).



Pinout goes left to right top row 1-8 bottom row 9-16 in the photographs below and the pinout picture from the FSM is when looking at the face of the connector.

Your wire colors may vary but go by what the wire does not the wire color (the wire and switch in the pics below are from a junkyard vehicle and some of the wire colors are different than in my car and the FSM)



This last pic shows how I would wire everything up, again some of the wires at the headlight switch connector may be there already, and the view of the headlight switch connector is looking at the face of it.
Bringing back an old thread.

I understand why relays are used in some high current draw circuits but Im trying to understand why you recommend adding a relay when Ford did not use one in this circuit - especially if you are using the factory switch whose 'fog' contacts where deigned to handle the fog lamps current draw.

BTW Im adding fog lights to my 2002 SE wagon that has wiring under the dash but no wiring forward of the firewall.

Have dug and dug, on a 2006 Focus headlight switch, On the light switch, Pin 16 has 2 wires leading from it, 1 is OR/YE the other is OR/WH, have got in a proper Ford manual, gives circuit location but do not find the reference location.... where DO they go???? what light or device??? right now they were providing a ground that shorted the main 10 amp fuse on interior fuse panel at upper left F2.30... and killed the system.... removed that contact and leads from cannon plug and system works???. am missing something, anyone up to the Challenge?? would like to finish properly...
