As long as there is a Taco Bell and a McDonald's nearby, I don't really care about food choices. My gf booked the last room a couple weeks ago, she was told so when we called in to reserve. So I'm sure we are at the end of the hall somewhere.
Taco Hell and McCrapFood... No thankz, ill hit the local market and eat in room lol

I know a couple super markets here (northern OH) sell roasted chickens and other ready to eat goodies out of them. Maybe Cordova/surrounding area has something similar.

Alright folks, here's some info about my home town area. If I don't cover something that you'd like to know, feel free to PM me on here. I would like to point out there is almost nothing in Cordova, or close to Cordova. There's a gas station and a not so good BBQ place.

For starters, those staying at the host hotel are right on the interstate. There isn't much to do right around the hotel, and only a few places to eat without driving a few miles. The Thunder Bay Grill is near, and is good, but is pricy. I find it was over-priced. There's also a Cracker Barrel nearby. If you like Cracker Barrel, do not go there. Do yourself a favor and go one more exit to the west, off of I80, and go to The Machine Shed. Fantastic food, of the same kind of feel as CB. Northpark Mall is fairly close, and there is an Olive Garden and a Hooters near there. There is a very unique restaurant not too far from there called Zeke's Island Cafe, it's worth a try. The area is also famous for two food items, Whitey's Ice Cream and "Quad City" style pizza. Harris Pizza is the best of the QC style.

However, I much prefer the eclectic and large selection of locally owned restaurants around here. I could go on and on about a ton of them, but I'll highlight my favorites.

We are lucky to have some amazing, and authentic, Mexican restaurants around here. A friend lived in Brownsville TX for years, and says the food is better around here. My two favorites are both in Moline, across the river. They are fairly close, as well. Maria's, on 7th Street, and El Mariachi, on 15th Street. Both are fantastic and very authentic. Not fancy, but delicious. El Mariachi has a great, authentic, lunch buffet on Saturdays and a breakfast buffet on Sundays. They also have the best lengua tacos that I've ever had. Maria's has AMAZING barbacoa, but it will sell out, so if you seek it out, get there earlier on Saturday, or even Friday.

There are a few good Asian restaurants around here, but my favorite is MJ in Davenport, on Locust Street. It is flat out amazing. They specialize in Vietnamese and Chinese, but also have delicious, and fresh, sushi. Family run(you may have a 10 year old take your order), but incredibly delicious. Get the San Shan soup and two of your favorite sushi rolls, or pick one of the hundred or so different offerings off the full menu.

Have another type of food you like? Ask me and I'll point you in the right direction.

As far as entertainment, it can be hit and miss. The Quad City River Bandits, our local minor league baseball team, plays at Modern Woodman Park. It was named the best minor league park in America by USA Today. The Bandits play their final two home games on the Thursday and Friday of FF weekend. The Rock Island Grand Prix is also going on that weekend, and is the nation's largest go kart race on city streets. Also on Saturday and Sunday nights, a local band called The Travoltas, will be playing in Rock Island. The area where the Grand Prix, and the concert, is happening is called The District, our local club area.

We also have a few movie theaters (including a drive in about 15 minutes north of the QC), the John Deere World Headquarters, the John Deere Pavilion, and several really nice casinos in the area. Two of which are brand new, opening within a week of each other this past June. Also, if you are so inclined, a few really nice golf courses.

Basically, if you aren't spending all your time at the track, you'll be able to find something to do.

If you're staying on the Illinois side, or another Iowa hotel, and want to know what's close, let me know. I'll post an update on road construction the week before, as well.

Again, feel free to PM or email me. Thanks again for supporting our area!

EDIT:

I also just thought of something. If you are looking for a fun, spirited drive with some great views of the Mississippi, there is a river road that runs up the Iowa side from around the QC area to Dubuque. Definitely some fun twisties to blaze.

Great lil write up, totally forgot about the machine shed!!!

There is nothing in Cordova, or within 15 miles. Our local chain grocery stores, HyVee, have pretty solid rotisserie chickens, and there are quite a few stores around. They also have acceptable pizza. Chinese is lackluster, though.

There is plenty in Davenport. Moline is butts right into it too.
That's the big reason the hotel isn't in Cordova :)

I have no idea what car we will show up in. The RS is still stuck in KC, can't drive the ST's because of the chance for damage before trade in, and not bringing the SVT unless it's on a trailer.

Explained this just 5 minutes ago with the GM of Loveland Ford.

Still in panic mode. We may be driving whatever they give us as a loaner.

Cross posted from facebook. post up if you want to participate:
Everyone loves the way their Focus sounds, but do other people love it as well? We're going to find out this year at FocusFest!

On Saturday we will have an Exhaust Sound-Off for people to demonstrate how their ride sounds compared to others. However, there are a few rules.

Here's how you can participate.

1) Reply here with your car, engine, intake, and exhaust mods.

2) You must have a non-stock exhaust to participate, Focus RS is the only exception.

3) 8 participants from those who have entered will be chosen to participate during the show on Saturday in a tournament style bracket.

4) The winner's prize will be announced at the show.

So post up what you've got if you want a chance to participate and win!
