First off I love my focus SVT.
Alright, I got a weird question that I cant find any answers to.
I recently wrecked the SVT [mad] but I have my old escort ZX2, and I was wondering if it is at all possible to swap my svt motor and tranny over to the zx2. From what I understand the zx2 is the same platform as the FSVT. Would this be to rediculous to do (money wise)? [dunno]
Any info you guys of FFs have to offer would be greatly appriecated.

Most of the Escort ZX2s came with Zetecs, mostly 1.8s. The motor mounts should mount up and everything should go pretty smoothly except the wiring. That's always the hard part but you will probably have to use the SVT zetec ECU. Oh and you can mate it to either a MTX75 or the Getrag 6 speed. Look up somebody who has done a Zetec to SVT Zetec Focus and it should be pretty close.

The zx2's motor mounts are different,Focus uses a 4x108 wheel hub and 28 spline axle,zx2 uses a 4x100 and 26 spline axle.Focus uses a mtx75 compared to the g5m in the zx2.The swap could be done but alot of fabrication has to be made to get the mtx75 to bolt up.

perhaps I should have also said that I have the 6 speed getrag and my escort is a 2.0L dohc?

What is the last year of the Escort ZX2?

u can do it for sure!
wiring is going to be the hardest part, seeing as you have a majority of the parts seeing u have the SVT already... just find someone that knows wiring and it should not even cost u that much.

I work on both and it would be a royal pain in the butt to put any Focus engine into a ZX2 if it could even be done , sell the SVT stuff and use the money to mod your ZX2 engine you will be way ahead

and I know it's off the topic of the thread, but now I've got Tom's attention (yeah, sorry) I just wanted to throw a quick question.... what do you think about swapping a 2.3 with the SPI? is wiring still the hardest part? thanks [:)]

while youre on tom i wanna pester you too. im probably gonna be seeing alot of you over the course of the next few months between tranny stuff this week and turbo stuff in around feb. however i would love to try a motor swap with a roller focus ive been looking at. its a 02 zx3 completely gutted with nothing in it. what would be the BEST motor to drop in there to make it the fastest car possible. something fairly easy. preferably one that doesn't need fabricated motor mounts. i only ask because the only motor swaps ive ever done were in hondas and mitsubishis and i dont have a clue for motor swaps on foci.

A 2.3 Dura engine in where a SPI engine was wont be to bad but yes ALL wiring to the ECU would have to be changed

Thanks.... that's WAY more help than the FJ guys, dare I speak of them....they just say "nope, sorry, get a new car" [V] ) so, even the wiring to say, the rear doors would have to changed? just getting a better idea [thumb]

HFC it's alive! lol. yeah it's a lot of work for what it's worth I guess.....

now I guess I should break the news..... [hihi] K I decided freakin finally what I'm gonna do (for sure this time). Getting a 3.0L Taurus engine and doing the swap with that, as well as using some cougar dash components, and a CSVT ecu..... so far I've counted the parts total for all that ( like one of the only kits available for the cougar engines....) as well as a turbo kit, which has come up to $5,500 for most of the stuff..... the rest I'll find OEM or aftermarket stuff for the focus. (so, basically I'll be doing a swap of the Mercury Cougar engine, which had the slightly common swap of the 3.0L taurus engine....so technically I'm doing a swap of a swap [hihi])
