I'm looking at an 06 focus ZX3 SES, and as an optional extra it has traction control (for around $115 extra).

What I'm wondering is whether the traction control on the focus is the more simple kind to help you pull away on ice or gravel etc, or whether it's more like the ESP system found on the Euro cars. (not sure if this is included on the US vehicles, although I'd expect it'd be more than a $115 option if it was).

Thanks for any info on this!

I have traction control on my ST, and even though the owners manual says that to turn it off to maybe help u on ice and etc... if u kept it on I think it would help out a lot. It seems to be the more of the simple kind.

I believe it is only traction control, not any sort of a dynamic stability control system, i.e., it's just to avoid slippage in ice, gravel, and slick surfaces, not to save you when you overcook a corner.
