I get a good chuckle when conversation turns to the RS log manifold. In the UK, they get up to 300 at the flywheel with it. For a Zetec without a built lower end, there is more than enough power from the manifold.

Yes it is cast. Fits a nice clean stockheat shield. Works fine with GT25/28R. And no,
you won't be seeing 300 whp with one. Beyond the one limitation, there's a good little turbo manifold.

Now right about know the power guys step up to the plate and say why limit yourself?
Well, maybe I'm using a stock low end. Maybe 220/220 at the wheels will be enough for my daily driver. Maybe I'll never have the money for forged rods and pistons.

It is my opinion the RS log is a good manifold. It is not a big hp design. Not everyone wants big numbers. Maybe, we just want boost, turbo boost. Enough not to break the only engine I/we happen to have.

Why the t28 ? Go with a t3S60 or something close and get better results and SPA makes a cast manifold for that and they have turbos to fit it

Tom
How good are the SPA turbos. I'm sure the manifolds are good because its kinda hard to mess that up. Are they made by garret or something, or are they there own brand.

The SPA manifold is made by SPA and seems to be a good manifold , you just have to use there turbo and they say the warranty them one year just like turbonetics so warranty shouldnt be an issue

I had a chance to dyno one a few weeks back and it spooled up very well

Yeah, and one of the first things they do in the UK is get rid of it for a better flowing manifold... usually one made by Goode. Thats why you see them on Ebay, everyone is trying to unload them.

ANY Zetec manifold will fit on the SVT... so its not SVT specific.

I also agree with Tom, I was surprized at how good the SPA set up actually did.

Wrong. Bud, you're looking at a pricey car being the Focus RS over there. Those folks who want to upgrade pay on the order of $700USD and up for a replacement. They don't bother with cheaper weld up log manifolds either. And don't forget about the less well off guys over there who are buying up these "unloaded" RS parts to upgrade their non FI rides to boost.

BTW, not every Focus RS owner upgrades the manifold. Some do the turbo, some do the WTA/heat exchanger for a FMIC. Most do a catless downpipe and larger exhaust systems. The removal of the cast log is but for the few who chase the big numbers.

You want to make it sound like everyone is dissatisfied with their stock manifold over there. It's just not true. Not true at all.

As does the ST170 but again... pure Zetec below

I don't know why people are bagging the RS manifold considering that in stock form, the RS is a weapon on its own :)

The stock RS focus manifold is an extremely poor design.
The the high powered cars use the primary designs manifold.
Also remember that the focus rs manifold is a t2 ford design not a Gt28 flange. It will fit but not ideal.
